Abstract
312,124. Block, A. E. Feb. 20, 1928. Foot-arch supports. - A footarch support comprises a base A, Fig. 3, and an upper member B which can be adjustably positioned relative thereto so that the pocket formed therebetween can be adjusted to take supporting inserts of different sizes. In the construction described, the member B is stitched at one end 30, to the base A and is adjustably secured at the other end by a tongue 36 which engages in one of the slots 35 in the base A. A carrier E, Figs. 15, 17 to which one or two metatarsal supporting inserts F are detachably secured by engagement in slots 40 thereon, is disposed in the pocket formed between the base A and the member B, the pointed end 38 of the carrier being engaged in one of the slots 37 on the base A. The inner surface of member B may have adhesive thereon so that the carrier E may be retained in position by temporary adhesion of the base A and the member B. The inserts F have an eccentric hump 39 on one side and can be placed upside down on the carrier E, if desired. To treat the longitudinal arch and the heel, on the underside of base A oppositely disposed laterally opening pockets are formed by stitching on flaps C, D, Fig. 2. Holders G, Figs. 6 and 10, each having two pockets 53, 56 in which inserts H can be placed may be disposed in these pockets. One or both holders G each containing one or two inserts can be added to the base according to the treatment desired. The device may. be removably secured in position in the shoe by coating its lower side with rubber cement or other adhesive.
