Borehole apparatus. -A swivel for use in rotary well-boring apparatus comprises a body 15 to which a supporting-bail 19 is pivoted, and a sleeve 30 to which the drill pipes are connected, the sleeve being journaled in upper and lower roller bearings 31, 32, and a flange 41 on the sleeve being supported on a thrust bearing comprising upper and lower races 43, 44, and conical rollers 45. The body is filled with light grease through an opening 83, upper and lower stuffing boxes 86, 35, preventing escape of the grease. The cover 50 of the body has upstanding connected arms 54 which support a flanged tube 57 depending into a counterbore in the sleeve 30; a goose neck 70 for supply of flushing medium is bolted to the cover, the bolts 73 engaging recesses in the flange of the tube 57 to prevent rotation of the latter. A stuning box 80 is provided between the sleeve 30 and the tube 57; any flushing medium leaking past the stuffing box is thrown off a disc 90 by centrifugal force.
