Abstract

310,143. Stevens, G. C., and Chadwick Patent Bearing Co., Ltd. March 2, 1928. Percussive drills.- The tool head 3 of a percussive tool terminates in a socket portion 4 threaded internally to engage a corresponding screw thread 5 on the body of the cylinder. The distributing-valve 21 is of annular form and works in an annular valve chamber 20 with upper and lower seats 22, 23 formed on rings 10, 11 clamped between the cylinder and a flange 12 at the upper end of the socket 4. Ring 10 has a number of longitudinal passages 15, 16 whereby the supply passage 17 is put into communication with the upper end of the cylinder. Other passages 19, 26, 24 supply fluid to the forward end of the cylinder. The exhaust 27 is controlled by the piston 9. The valve is reversed by the built up and released pressure on its opposite faces respectively upon the piston 9 closing and opening the port 27. Specification 22629/12 is referred to.
