Abstract

308,973. Verola, P. April 2, 1926, [Convention date]. Colour kinematography; three-colour systems. -In a process for colour kinematography the individual pictures corresponding to the primary colours are deformed in respect of their height, but not of their width, so that a single film space contains as many strip pictures as there are primary colours used. In Fig. 3 three primary colours are utilized, and the rays from the object passing through diaphragm D are deformed in one direction by a telescopic cylindrical system f, f' before reaching the objective O. This objective is of large aperture and the emergent rays pass through a compound prism P by which the upper and lower portions of the rays are diverted upwardly and downwardly respectively while the central portions are undeviated. Separators S prevent overlapping of the images b, g, r in the image plane. The compound prism P consists of a trapezoidal prism of flint glass having a parallel central portion and two crown glass prisms as shown at the upper and lower parts of the flint glass prisms.. Suitable colour filters are placed behind the compound prism P. The same optical system may be used for projection purposes.. Alternatively the prism P may be placed within the objective O.
