Sockets.-In a mixing or kneading machine the stirrer is attached to the driving shaft by providing a sleeve b on the latter provided with a gap k and bifurcated feet h for engagement by a part l on the shank a sliding sleeve c locking the parts together. The part l on the shank d, to which is screwed the stirrer, is preferably cylindrical to mate with the gap k, and shoulders m are provided mating with flats f.
