Stands and mats. -A device for removing or preventing accumulation of water on ledges or sills &c. consists of an absorbent strip 5 such as lamp wick terminating in a non-absorbent tag 6 formed by a piece of metal clipped to the ends or by beads attached to the wick. The strip is laid on the. ledge &c. and the tags hang over suitable receptacles. The device may be placed between the frame and sash of a window or shaped as shown in Fig. 3, may be used beneath a plant pot.
