Abstract
306,167. Turley & Williams (1925), Ltd., and Morris, W. H. Nov. 9, 1927. Stoppers, expanding-plug. - In stoppers or closures of the type comprising two rings which are drawn together by a screw to expand a rubber ring located between them, the screw is provided with a plain non-circular member attached to one of the clamping rings and passing through a corresponding non-circular opening in the other clamping ring so that relative rotation of the two clamping rings is prevented and no damage to the screw thread occurs. Fig. 1 shows a cocktail shaker in which the two clamping rings 6, 7 are drawn together by a screw 11 working in a hexagonal sleeve 4 attached to the ring 6 and making a sliding fit in a hexagonal boss 9 on the ring 7. Fig. 4 shows' a cooling device in which the clamping rings 14, 15, serving to make a tight joint between the two parts 17, 18 of an egg-shaped cooler, are drawn together by a screwed sleeve 20 carrying a square rod 19 fixed to the ring 14 and passing through square holes in the ring 15 and cover 17. The screw is operated by the handle 21.
