Abstract
305,297. Corns, T. Nov. 15, 1927. Moulding pies.-Apparatus for manufacturing pies comprises a tray member having openings to accommodate tins, cutting edges around said openings and means to press paste into the tins and to sever the pies against the cutting edges. As shown, tins 15 are supported within openings 10 of a tray member 9 upon a withdrawable slide 7. A sheet of dough is placed over the tins and is forced therein to form pie shells by plungers 24 on a plate 22 pivotally supported on counterweighted levers 19. After filling the shells, a second sheet of dough is placed over the tins and serrated cutters 25 on the rear of the plate 22 are brought into operation to sever the pies against upstanding cutting-edges 11 and to crimp the edges. The slide 7 is then withdrawn to permit the charged tins to fall into a baking-tray 27. The frame 9 is pivotally supported upon a rod 12 and is swung back by a handle 13 to discharge surplus dough. As shown in Fig. 1, a single pressing-device 22 is adapted to co-operate, in turn, with a number of trays. According to the Provisional Specification the moulding and cutting tools may be carried by separate plungers and be moved vertically; also the tins may be supported upon an oven shelf adapted to be lowered for withdrawal of the filled tins.
