Police and like alarm systems.- In an observation system in which microphones 1 and contacts 3, 4 are provided at the distant station to give an alarm at the central station the lifting of the central station receiver 53 energizes a supervisory signal lamp 76. The Figure shows a system in which indicators 6 show the position at which the contacts 3, 4 are actuated and operate the alarm 16. The central station operator by inserting plug 23 in sockets 7 energizes the associated microphone and a recording electromagnet 28. The microphone signals are amplified by a valve 45 in the output of which are receivers 53, 65. The removal from the hook of the operator's receiver energizes the lamp 76 to warn the supervisor. A clock mechanism may be associated with the recording device to operate alarm 34 if the operator does not operate plug 23 within a prescribed time.
