Latex, coagulating.-In the electrodeposition of rubber or a rubber-like substance from an aqueous emulsion, the emulsion is modified by the addition of an organic compound adapted to form on oxidation at the anode a vulcanization accelerator which is thereby incorporated in the deposit. Suitable compounds for addition are sodium diethyl-dithiocarbamate which oxidizes to tetraethyldithiuramdisulphide, hydroquinone which oxidizes to p<1>-benzoquinone, and a dimercaptan which oxidizes to the corresponding disulphide. When certain disulphides are deposited, no sulphur is necessary for vulcanization. A leuco-vat dye stuff may be added in addition to the accelerator-producing compound. Activators, fillers, conditioning agent softeners and protective colloids may also be present. A partially vulcanized latex may be used. The rubber may be partly replaced by cellulose or its esters or other compounds. Specification 253,085 is referred to.
