Abstract

Bodies.- In metal bodies the shroud pan and toe board supports are mounted on the body so as to strengthen the cowl unit. The cowl and wind shield frame comprise inner and outer uniting panels 13<1>, 13 connected together at the front and at the post in the rear of the cowl. The front of the cowl is formed with flanges 18, 19, Fig. 4, in the outer and inner panels respectively and in the angle thus obtained is nested a Z-section strip 22 to which a sub-cowl 14 of reduced section is secured. This sub-cowl 14 comprises two stampings welded together in the medial plane and to the flanged front 17 thereof is secured the shroud pan 15. The toe board supports 30 are secured to the shroud pan and to the inturned lower flange 27, Fig. 5, of the sub-cowl. The cowl and wind shield inner unit is formed of three stampings welded together. The inner and outer panels 13<2>, 13 of the cowl are connected together and to the chassis 25 by rivets 26, Fig. 6, which the sub-cowl and toe board are secured together and to the chassis 25 by flanges 31, 27, a strengthening strip 28 being secured thereto which also serves to position the bonnet 29.
