Abstract

302,453. Marchmont, D. H. Oct. 28, 1927. Signs, supporting and securing. - An expansible spiked mat or carpet of lattice construction is placed on a road surface to puncture the tyres of a motor vehicle, and thereby arrest the vehicle if the driver attempts to pass a, police barrier. In the form shown, strips L having spikes L<2> are housed in a box B and together with a " stop " sign S form a portable unit. On release of the lid C, the reflecting sign S assumes the position shown and the sides of the box spring open to permit the strips L to be pulled out to the desired width by means of handles L<1>. The limits of the barrier are shown bv double-sided ruby reflectors R hinged to the lattice. The lattice conforms to the camber of the road and may be passed on to a footpath.
