Abstract
301,864. Kunstd³nger-Patent-Verwertungs Akt.-Ges., (Assignees of Liljenroth, F. G.) Dec. 7, 1927, [Convention date]. Grant of Patent opposed. Phosphoric acid; ammonium phosphates.- In the production of phosphoric acid or soluble phosphates by leaching raw phosphates and separating the calcium from the solution as calcium sulphate, a temperature of at least 80‹ C., say 95‹ C., is employed for the separation, whereby a crystalline form of the sulphate which settles rapidly is obtained. The process may therefore be carried out with concentrated solutions of the reagents. Alkali salts such as potassium or ammonium phosphates, sulphates, nitrates, or chlorides may be present during the separation. The leaching and separation may both be effected at the high temperature, or the calcium be first brought into solution. and be then precipitated at the high temperature, or the calcium sulphate be first precipitated at a lower temperature, and the temperature be then raised above 80‹ C. Sulphuric acid with or without an alkali sulphate, or nitric or hydrochloric acid with the necessary amount of an alkali sulphate may be used for the leaching. When ammonium sulphate is used as precipitant, the raw phosphate may be mixed with a solution thereof and then the acid be added; when potassium sulphate is used, it is dissolved in the leaching acid.
