Multiple-indication apparatus. - A device for determining the quotient of two variables particularly applicable for ascertaining mean speed comprises a band movable in accordance with the variations of one factor and having sets of gradutions co-operating with a plurality of pivoted or sliding index hands or elements the movements of which are dependent upon variations of the second factor. In Fig. 1, which shows the underlying principle of the invention, a band 1 passes over rollers 2, 4, and is advanced in the direction of the arrow f<1> according, say, to the distance travelled by a vehicle. The band is provided throughout its length with graduations 6 representing mean speeds and co-operating therewith is a pointer 7 rotated in the direction of the arrow f<2> proportionally, say, to the elapsed time. According to the invention shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the band is passed over guide rollers 9, 10 and 11. so as to expose both surfaces of the band one at a and the other at a<1>, which surfaces bear graduations co-operating respectively with hands 12. 13 actuated by clockwork and adapted to rotate in opposite directions as shown by the arrows f<3>, f<4>. The hands may be of different shape and the opposite surfaces of the band differently coloured. A signal device 14 may be carried by the hand 13 so as to come into view when the hand 12 ceases to give true indications, the hand 13 then coming into play.
