Abstract

Feeding webs.-A device for holding and dispensing a roll 10 of tape comprises a pivoted brake shoe 21, a resilient arm 22 extending from the pivot of the brake shoe in the opposite direction to that in which the shoe extends, and a guide pulley 24 mounted at the end of the arm 22, the tension of the tape as it is drawn from the reel 17 moving the arm to remove the shoe out of contact with the reel or a flange thereof; should the tape unwind faster than is demanded, the arm 22 first straightens to take up the slack and then. a spring 25, connected at one end to the supporting bracket 12 and at the other end to the brake shoe, causes the shoe to brake the reel. The spring 25 is so tensioned that the arm 22 is flexed to a material extent before the brake is released.
