Abstract

299,763. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Oct. 31, 1927, [Convention date]. Alkali silicates.-In the production of waterglass solutions by heating under pressure siliceous raw materials and alkali lyes, the latter comprise liquors containing alkali chloride obtained by electrolysis of sodium or potassium chloride solutions. In examples, finely-ground sand is treated (a) with a liquor containing 120 grms. NaOH and 120 grms. NaCl per litre at 240‹ C. under a pressure of 30 atmospheres, and (b) with a liquor containing 70 grms. NaOH and 210 grms. NaCl per litre at 200‹ C. under a pressure of 15 atmospheres.
