Abstract

Hand-stamps.-A date and time printing hand-stamp comprises a number of type-wheels, one of which is adjusted by hand and is adapted to advance type-wheels of higher denomination through two or more gear wheels rigid with one another a.nd mounted idly on a spindle parallel to that of the type-wheels. As shown, typewheels are mounted in a casing 1, Fig. 1, connected to a handle 2 by an universal joint of known kind comprising a spherical plate 4 fixed to the casing and the spherical head 3 of a screw fixed to the handle. A type-wheel 6, Fig. 2, representing minutes is fixed on a shaft 5, Fig. 3, and-type-wheels 8, 9 representing hours and tens of hours respectively are loosely mounted thereon. The shaft 5 is adapted to be turned by a knob 7 to adjust the minutes wheel, which carries an arm 10 engaging a gear 12 loosely mounted on a shaft 13, the gear 12 being fixed to a gear 14 engaging teeth 15 on the hour wheel 8, and to a disc 16 carrying an arm 17 engaging teeth 18 on the tens wheel 9. Day and month wheels 19 - - 21 adjustable by inserting a pointed tool are also provided. All the type-wheels are secured in adjusted position by means of pawls 22 pressed by springs 23 into engagement with teeth on the wheels, a bolt 29 normally preventing movement of the pawls being movable axially against spring action into a position where grooves in the bolt come opposite the pawls and allow movement thereof when adjustment of the type-wheels is required. Correct movement of the pawls is ensured by arms 28, which engage between the type-wheels or between discs thereon. The springs 23 are fixed to the top plate 24 of the casing 1, lugs 25 on the plate 24 engaging in slots 26 in the body of the casing. The knob 7 and the end of the bolt 29 may be at opposite sides so that one hand may be used to hold the stamp and release the bolt 29 while the adjustment is effected with the other.
