Ornamenting. - Rubberized or rubberized and varnished fabrics are coated with pyroxylin composition which adheres well to the rubber surface and is sufficient1y distensible and pliable to avoid cracking or peeling. The pyroxylin composition may, for example, contain drying oil in proportion at least equal to the weight of pyroxylin. One composition consists of 100 parts by weight of pyroxylin, 267 parts of blown 1inseed oil, 167 parts of pigment, 10 parts of plasticizer, 33 parts of drier, and 1320 parts of composite solvent. A second composition comprises 100 parts of pyroxy1in, 283 parts of blown China wood oil, 170 parts of pigment, 27 parts of plasticizer, 27 parts of drier, and 1520 parts of composite solvent. The composition may be app1ied by f1owing or any other process, and its use is not dependent on the method of manufacture of the rubbercoated fabric. The latter may be embossed or grained, in which case the lacquer may be applied by means of a knife or blade which scrapes it from the raised parts of the fabric and coats only the depressions; a two-colour effect may be obtained by using lacquer of a colour differing from that of the rubber coating.
