Belt fastenings. - In belt fastenings, the belt ends 1, 2 are turned up and held together by pairs of plates 3 with flanges 4 and rounded edges 25, through which plates and belt ends are passed cross - pins 6 maintained in position by bars 7, 8 passed through holes therein, a single bar for each side of the fastening or one for each plate being employed. The fastening is set up with the plates, cross-pins, and one bar 7 or one set of bars in position and pressure is applied by removable screw means and stirrup members 10 to force the parts together to enable the second bar 8 or set of bars, chosen from bars of different widths, to be placed in position. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the end of the pins 6 are screwed, and nuts (not shown) thereon are turned to bear upon the stirrup members 10 which engage the faces of the plates 3 on one side of the fastening, the nuts and stirrups being removed when the bar 8 is in position. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, an extension-pin 12 with a screwed end 13 engageable by the nut is hooked on to the end of the cross-pin 6. The extension-pin 20, Fig. 6, is connected to the pin 6 by a removable pin 24, the bars 7, 8 bearing in recesses 19 in transverse ribs 18 on the plates 3.
