Panning-mechanism for biscuit-machines. - Biscuits are coated with egg-yolk or like substance whilst they are still upon the panning conveyer of a biscuit cutting machine, the coating being effected by a rotary brush. The receptacle 18 for the egg-yolk has a concaved bottom which corresponds with the curvature of the brush. The bottom is perforated and internal and external layers 22 of flannel or the like are applied through which the egg-yolk permeates. The amount of egg-yolk applied to the goods depends upon the number of layers used. As shown in Fig. 1, the receptacle 18 and the brush 12 are mounted above the panning conveyer, and are carried by brackets 3 joined by a cross member 4. The receptacle 18 is vertically adjustable by nuts 20, 21 on screws 17, the brush is vertically adjustable by screws 10<a> threaded in the members 16 in which the brush shaft 13 is journaled, and a stationary supporting cylinder 6 for the conveyer is vertically adjust. able by screws 10 threaded in supports 7' for the cylinder. The cylinder 6 is also adjustable by eccentrics 23 which are rotatable in the supports 7 and are locked by screws 6<b>.
