Seed drills.-A tool or implement for distributing seeds in boxes, frames, beds, &c. comprises a seed receptacle having an aperture in the bottom, a funnel-shaped or conical outlet member attached to the receptacle, an intermediate regulating slide or shutter, and a furrow-making share or coulter attached to the outlet member and partially enshrouding the outlet, the apparatus being provided with a side roller or wheel to run upon a straight edge or guide, or being mounted on a wheeled carriage propelled by means of a handle &c. The tubular receptacle 8, Fig: 1, has a removable lid 9 and a dished or conical bottom 10 formed with a central aperture 11. A transverse shaft 12 carries a brush 14 with bristles extending slightly through the aperture 11. The brush is rotated by means of a rubher-tyred wheel 15, Fig. 7, mounted on the shaft 12 and of such a size and so situated as to be adapted to run ou the upper surface of a straight edge or other guide. Screwed on the receptacle is an apertured false bottom 16 carrying a tunnel 19 to which is attached a V-shaped furrow opener 24 having an inclined or curved guide surface below the funnel outlet 20. The discharge is regulated by an apertured slide 21 the down-turned end of which is adapted to engage an adjustable screw 23. The discharge may be stopped automatically by the engagement of the other end of the slide with the end of the box or frame in which the seeds are being sown. The receptacle 8 may be clamped in a sleeve 27, Fig. 7, pivotally supported by a bar 28 in a twowheeled frame 29 provided with a pole or handle 36. The roller 15 is driven by frictional contact with the edge of a roller 32 driven from the axle 30 or wheels 31, the receptacle being held in place by a spring 37 and a ring 39. The frame 29 may carry an adjustable main furrow opener 33, and adjustable depth-regulating skid 34, and seed-covering prongs 35. The slide 21 is operated by a rod 40 extending to the end of the handle 36.
