Abstract

296,227. Troll, F. J. Nov. 10, 1927. Vehicles, ascertaining weight on wheels of; hydrostatic apparatus.- In a hydrostatic weighing apparatus of the manually portable type for determining the loads on the wheels of vehicles, the base housing is countersunk between the usual end ramps 11 to receive and guide the platform 2, to receive the usual triangular levers 3, 4 and to form the pressure chamber 6 closed by a diaphragm 5. The levers are provided with hardened rollers 24, 30 in lieu of knife-edges. The apparatus may be relieved by the rotation of eccentrics 46 that are adapted to engage beneath the ends 26 of the platform. The ends of the platform and the holes in the levers that receive the guide-bolts 35 are faced with rubber to take up clearance and exclude grit, &c. The apparatus is sealed by adjustment of the bolts 35, the heads of which are seated in recesses 39 in the platform that are closed by discs 42. The diaphragm comprises a circular sheet 16 of bronze or other metal stiffened by upper and lower plates 17. The pressure chamber is connected to a gauge 7 through a valve 50 that may be closed by a screw 60. The chamber is filled with oil or other liquid through the gauge opening 64 and is provided with an air vent 67 normally closed by a screw 69.
