Abstract

296,219. Wright, W. C. Oct. 27, 1927. Feeding to machines and apparatus.-Hides are slicked by a process in which a hide is moved on a conveyer device, and while moving a slicking board is placed thereunder the board with the hide thereon then moving on to a slicking machine, after which the hide is dried on the board. In a convenient lay-out of the apparatus a hide passes from a putting-out machine 10 on to a conveyer 12 which passes the skin over an adhesive-apply roll 13 to a conveyer 14 on which an operator places a slicking board to receive the hide, which is thus transferred to a slicking machine 16. Subsequent operations such as slicking particular parts of the hide are performed by operators at 17, 18, 19, and the boards with hides attached are placed on tables 20, 21 for transfer to a table 15 from which they are removed for positioning on the conveyer 14 to receive a hide on the other face. After again passing through the slicking machine &c., the boards with a hide on either side are removed to the drying room.
