"Crown corks," applying.- Relates to sealing heads for crown-corking machines of the type comprising a cylindrical series of segments held together by a spring. According to the invention the faces 16 of the segments 1 are spherically curved or coned to permit the sealing ring to expand conically on the entry of the bottle 13, to be sealed. The sealing ring which may comprise any number of segments 1 assumes to cylindrical formation as the bottle is further advanced therein to complete the sealing operation.
