295,613. Dunbar, W. May 14, 1927, Receiving sets, screening. A composition of matter for screening wireless apparatus &c. consists of two or more layers of paper, papier mache, cardboard, millboard, &c. and one or more layers of thin and light non-magnetic metal or foil between these layers, unconnected electrically. The composition is made in sheets from which pieces can be cut and bent to any desired shape and secured by adhesive &c. The paper may be impregnated with a trace of oil, wax, or other mo'sture-repellant substance. The metal may be in the form of a thin sheet or foil, or may be deposited electrolytically. The composition may be used to form cylindrical or other screens for the individual components of wireless apparatus, or to form partitions or linings for cabinets. The composition may constitute the cabinet itself, a single blank being cut and folded like a cardboard box, the sides and ends having small flaps secured by adhesive. A separate lid may be formed so that a part overlaps the base so as to provide a capacity for bye-passing high-frequency currents. High-frequency currents induced in screens may be earthed by securing a separate small piece of the composition (which separate piece is directly connected to earth) to the base so that the capacity thus formed bye-passes high-frequency currents to earth.
