Delivery of liquids. - In a coin-controlled apparatus for automatically delivering liquids, particularly gasoline and oil, after insertion of a coin and rotation of an outside handle, a friction disc 28, Figs. 4 and 6, makes one revolution and drives a friction wheel 33 on the squared upper end of a screwed shaft. A wheel nut 37 rises on the shaft and carries with it a bracket 48 which raises a threaded rod 49. This carries a depending link 54 which is raised out of engagment with a lever 55 so allowmg a bar 58 having a notch 59 in it to drop by gravity. The displacement of the notch 59 allows the plunger 60 of an electric switch to be pressed in to start an electric motor driving a pump. Rods 47 from the pump through pawls 44, 45 drive a wheel 43 which, through bevel gearing 40, 41, rotates a long pinion in mesh with the wheel nut 37. The nut 37 thereby descends its shaft and, when it reaches its initial position, the shaft 49 raises the bar 58 and opens the switch 60. The disc 28 is loose on a shaft 27 and is connected thereto by a spring 72 so that there is a slight lost motion of the shaft 27 before the disc 28 commences to rotate. This allows a cam 66 to withdraw a locking pawl 70 from a stop pin 71 on the disc by acting, through rods 67, 68. The shaft 27 has a gear wheel 26 meshing with a wheel 25 on a stub shaft rotated after prepayment. The disc 28 makes one revolution for each coin inserted. Price-changing mechanism. - The quantity delivered per coin is changed by altering the radial position of the wheel 33 with respect to the disc 28. The wheel 33 is carried by a bracket 34 through which a pair of screwed rods 35. geared together, pass. By rotating one of the gears on the rods, the position of the bracket 34 is changed. Indicators.-The bracket 34 carries a threaded rod 62<1> which acts as a rack on a wheel 63 thereby turning a shaft 64 carrying a pointer to indicate the price per gallon. The rod 49 also rotates a wheel having a pointer for indicating the number of gallons to be delivered. Coin action, mechanical-connection; coin-discharging mechanism.-A coin enters a segmental notch 11, Fig. 7, in a cylinder 10 turned by a crank handle, and a radial notch 15 in a cylinder 12 fixed to the stub shaft 13 that carries the gear wheel 25. The cylinders 10, 12 are coupled by the coin for rotation together but after a quarter revolution a fixed cam 21 presses a spring-controlled bolt 17 on the cylinder 12 into a recess 10<1> in the cylinder 10 to couple these cylinders independently of the coin, which being relieved of pressure, drops to a money-box. When the bolt 17 drops from the upper to the lower surface of the cam 21, the. cylinders become disconrected. The cam is adjusted in position by a pin 22 and set screws 23.
