Abstract

Refrigerators, domestic; cooling liquids, tubular apparatus for.-Apparatus adapted for installation as a unit for cooling foodstuffs or beverages in a domestic refrigerator or for cooling liquids in pipes comprises a chamber 11, Fig. 1, for the liquid' or foodstuff to be cooled separated by a space within a jacket 12, containing a liquid or gas, from a surrounding space containing ice or other cooling medium. The ice &c. may be confined in an insulated outer casing 14. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 4, liquid to be cooled passes through a helical pipe 24 enclosed by concentric pipes 25, 26 between which a liquid or gas is contained, the cooling medium being placed outside the annular space. Apparatus in the form of inner and outer chambers or concentric straight pipes only is also described, the cooling medium in all cases being separated from the container of the medium to be cooled by a space for fluid, to avoid freezing. Specification 288,730 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 51/00, 20387/00, 17622/05, and 261,709.
