Television.-To facilitate supervision of a television transmitter, part of the outgoing signal current is diverted to the control of a local receiving lamp which is scanned by the scanning disc 22 which is also employed for transmission. In the arrangement illustrated the object is scanned for the purpose of transmission by a thin lightpencil (Fig. 1, not shown) which is moved within the area 31 by holes extending from a to e in the scanning disc 22, the holes from e to f being masked by the screen 30 so far as transmission is concerned. Part of the outgoing signal current is applied to a glow lamp which is scanned by the holes from b to f, a picture being thus reconstituted in the area 121 marked off by the screen 30. The picture reproduced at 121 is not upright, but it may be erected by optical means. The areas 31, 121 may be separated by 90 or 180‹, the spiral a - - f having a corresponding overlap.
