Abstract
291,954. Hughes, R. O., and Francis Lamp Locks, Ltd. June 9, 1927. Holders. - In devices for preventing lamp bulbs from being removed from holders, of the kind comprising a telescopic ring which can be lengthened to abut between a fixed part of the holder and the lamp bulb but cannot be shortened again, means are provided to enable the pawl or spring that retains the parts in the extended position to be held magnetically in an inoperative position so that the bulb may be removed without breaking it. An aperture is made in the outer part 3 of the ring adjacent the free end of the spring 9 so that by applying a magnet to the aperture the spring may be held out of engagement with the ratchet teeth 8 formed on the inner part 5 of the ring. The aperture may be covered by a strip 14 of soft iron. Pawls 15 are provided in the inner part 5 of the ring to hold this still, by engaging with the bulb pins 16, while the outer part 3 is being rotated to extend the ring.
