Colour photography.-A sensitive film or plate for colour photography, of the kind provided on one surface with a pattern of minute refractive elements, is formed of a layer of material sensitized within its mass, which may be used alone, or may be supported by a transparent carrier having the pattern of elements formed on the surface in contact with the sensitive layer. The sensitized layer may comprise bichromated gelatin which, after exposure, is treated with a black dye to colour the unexposed parts of the layer; or it may comprise cellophane impregnated with a mixture of light-sensitive diazo compounds and phenols which, after exposure, is treated with an alkaline bath or ammonia vapour to blacken the unexposed parts. The layer may be used without a support; or it may have a support of celluloid, the refractive network being located at the contacting surfaces. Such films or plates may be used in printing machines for reproducing films with an embossed refractive network.
