Panoramic kinematography; projection screens.-Panoramic or abnormally high images are photographed on to image areas of normal size by means of an anamorphotic system, such as described in Specification 282,078, in combination with an objective; the positives are projected by means of a similar system, so as to appear in normal proportions on the projection screen, and the screen may comprise vertical and lateral extensions of the normal screen and be provided with curtains to mask such parts of the screen as are not in use. The anamorphotic system may comprise two relatively adjustable systems of cylindrical lenses, corrected for chromatic and geometric aberrations, and be capable of rotation round the axis of the objective so as to be suitable for subjects which are extended vertically, horizontally, or in an inclined direction. Fig. 1 (Cancelled) shows a projection screen having a normal picture area a - - and vertical and lateral exiensions; two pairs of dark curtains are provided to cover respectively the vertical extensions and the horizontal extensions.
