Cases; cells; connections.-An electric cell or battery having plug-socket connections has the sockets protected by thin sheet metal, with which a temporary contact for testing may be readily made, and which is easily puncturable or removable to allow the usual plug connection to be made when necessary. As applied to a high-tension battery the terminal socket 16 may be protected as in Fig. 2 by a piece of copper foil 20 held between the top of the socket and the under face of the battery cover 12 and prevented from lateral displacement by a cardboard &c. frame 18 secured to the cover 12, or as in Fig. 4 by a flat-topped plug 26 formed from a sheet metal blank and retained in place by a paper &c. ring 28 secured to the cover 12. The cover 12 has apertures 14 registering with and alfowing access to the sockets or protectors. Alternatively, the terminal sockets may be protected as in Specification 258,807. The intermediate sockets 22 are protected by a sheet of waxed tissue paper 24 or other readily ruptured insulating material which may be secured to the inner face of the cover 12 or may be in the form of an outer wrapping.
