Systems ; rope railways ; axle stops.-In apparatus for cleaning trucks in which the trucks are moved and supported in an endless orbit in a vertical plane, as shown in Fig. 1, the track system used is shown in Fig. 3. Empty trucks which do not require cleaning are moved in a direct route along the tracks 1 and 4 to where they are to be housed. Those requiring to be cleaned are switched on to the track 5. At the end of the cleaning operations they are restored to an upright position on the track 28 and proceed along the track 29 and from thence to the track 4. A manually-operated switch 31 may be provided to close the track 1 when necessary, so as to avoid collision between the trucks proceeding directly to the housing station and those which have undergone cleaning operations. The necessity for the switch 31 may be avoided, if the track 33 is substituted for the track 29, by the provision of a bar 35 which is depressed, against the action of a counterweight, when a truck passes over it, whereby an axle stop 45 is raised to arrest the movement of trucks on the direct route. The operative connection between the bar 35 and the stop 45 is shown in Fig. 7.
