Abstract
288,508. Vereinigte Stahlwerke Akt.- Ges. Nov. 4, 1927, [Convention date]. Renewable wearing-parts for crossings and points; crossings without movable parts; points with fixed tongues.-Built-up crossings with insertion pieces to carry the wheel flanges are formed from thick-web rails S, Fig. 1, with enlarged grooves to receive the insertion pieces which are laid continuous in the interrupted rails and interrupted in the continuous rails. The pieces h, Fig. 13, are formed of manganese steel and undercut the rail on the tread side, being welded in place on the guard side. The Veepoints may be formed in the piece h by inclining its side walls together in a downward direction, Fig. 15. The ends of the rails are tapered to join standard section rails. For the outer rails of curved tracks, the filling-piece may be modified, as shown in Fig. 14.
