Abstract

286,933. Capiau, G., Gauquier, M., and Lahaut, L. June 7, 1927. Repairing - apparatus. - Cracks in the brickwork of ovens are filled while the oven is hot by supplying dry refractory material under air pressure to the seat of injury where it is set by the heat. For temperatures of from 600‹ to 1200‹ C. the refractory mixture may be 80 per cent (or cement and slag), 1 to 4 per cent dextrin, 2 to 7 per cent litharge, 3 to 8 per cent sodium chloride and 2 to 5 per cent sodium carbonate. Silica, or silicates may be added when glazing is desired. The material is supplied to a valved hopper 18 whence it passes through the valve 16 to a mixing chamber 1 with rotating stirrers 5. This chamber is supplied with a perforated false bottom 3 having an aperture 4 at one side adjacent to the exit tube 21 through which the dry mixture is blown by an air pressure tube 20 disposed under the false bottom. The refractory mixture passes along a tube 24 to the seat of injury, this tube having a jacket tube 25 through which air may be circulated to protect the inner tube from the heat; or the jacket may be fed with cooling water circulated by an injector 41, Fig. 3. Both hopper and mixer are subjected to air pressure by means of tubes 37 and 40 respectively.
