Abstract

Staff, tablet, and ticket systems.-In order to avoid manual transport of a token from a signal cabin to a train at a distant point such as an advanced signal position, there is provided at that point X a token issuing instrument from which a token can be withdrawn under permission from a cabin B but cannot be replaced. The release of a token from X is permitted by the transmission of currents from B by insertion of a special transfer-token (issued in the ordinary way by co-operatfon of station A) in a transfer box 5. This insertion reverses a commutator 16 - - 19 and enables transmission of a current over line 13 from battery 21 to polarized relay 30, which closes either contact 31 or 33 and energizes lock-magnet 38 and permits the removal of a token by the driver. The apparatus can be set in condition for the release of another token only after another transfer tablet has been employed to reverse the commutator at B, since the withdrawal of a token from the instrument at X reverses the commutator 35-37.
