Hoof-supporting packing; hoof-pads.-In composite shoes of the kind described in the parent Specification, the reinforcement for the elastic pad 2 consists of wire in the form of overlapping convolutions 1 which give continuous metallic edges to the pad. The pad is held bv nails which pass through the convolutions, and may be positioned in the first place by means of an edge 2a which is preferably cut off when the shoe is fixed to the hoof. The convolutions may be bent as in Fig. 4, and may be turned down at either or both sides as in Figs. 5, 6. The pad and reinforcement may be made up for transport in coils of comparatively large diameter. Specification 245,386 also is referred to.
