285,127. Pattison, E. W., (Metal Edge Filter Corporation). Nov. 9, 1926. Filters comprising grids or gratings.-The disc elements 16, Fig. 5, of an edge filter are of metal and have elevated spacing portions 31 formed by electrodeposition. The discs are mounted on a rod 1, Fig. 1, screwthreaded at both ends, one of which is hollow to serve as discharge passage for the filtrate. The cover 4 of the casing is held against a shoulder 2 on the rod by means of a nut 5, and the main body 9 of the casing is pressed against the cover by hinged bolts 10. The rod is of such a section that it centres and aligns the discs but does not fill the apertures 17 so that space is left for the passage of the filtrate to the top at which there are radial passages 15 in the rod communicating with the discharge passage 14. After the sheets have been assembled in the pack the outer surfaces of the pack are machined to remove any projecting ledges or burred edges. The filter is stated to. be applicable in pressure lubricating systems of motor vehicles.
