Abstract
285,119. Nichols, F. A. R. Nov. 6, 1926. Expanding tables combined with desks; table tops.-In an extensible draw-leaf table of the type in which the draw leaves are affixed to tapering slides so that when a leaf is pulled out it gradually rises up until level with the table top, and in which a separate central portion of the draw-leaf constitutes the cover for a case, to be used as a writing-table, directly underlying the draw-leaf, the said cover is hinged to another part of the draw-leaf so that, when fully opened, no part of it projects beyond the side edges of the table top or the draw-leaf, the writing surface being constituted by the floor of the case together with the inner surface of a drop-down front flap. Fig. 1 shows the cover formed in two parts a<1>, a<2>, folding over on to the parts b<1>, b<2>, the writing surface being formed by the parts f, g, while in Fig. 2 the portion a<3> is hinged transversely of the table. The cover may be formed in several pieces, some hinged longitudinally and others transversely of the table. Specification 246,404 is referred to.
