Abstract

285,097. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Feb. 11, 1927, [Convention date]. Azo dyes. - Mordant dyestuffs yielding fast brown shades when chrome-printed on cotton are obtained by coupling two molecular proportions of the same or different diazo compounds, containing the residue of an o-oxyarylcarboxylic acid and having the diazo group in p-position to the oxy group, with one molecular proportion of a 1 : 3-dioxy compound of the benzene series. The following examples are specified. (1) Primary disazo dyes are obtained by coupling 1 mol. of diazotized 4-amino-1-oxybenzene-2-carboxylic acid with 1 mol. of the monazo dye from the same diazo compound and resorcinol or 1 : 3-dioxybsnzene- 4 (or 5) carboxylic acid. (2) Trisazo dyes are obtained by diazotizing the monazo dyes 4-amino- 1-oxybenzene-2-carboxylic acid # 3-amino-4- methoxy-1-methylbenzene or 1-aminonaphthalene, and coupling with the monoazo dye 4-amino-1- oxybenzene-2-carboxylic acid # resorcinol. (3) A tetrakisazo dye is obtained by coupling 2 mols. of the diazotized monazo dye 4-amino-1-oxybenzene-2-carboxylic acid # 3-amino-4- methoxy-1-methylbenzene with 1 mol. of resorcinol.
