Rakes, horse.-In a horse-rake of the type in which the tines e are adapted to be lifted by the engagement of pawls pivoted on the tine frame with ratchet teeth b<1> on the land wheels a single locking hook f is pivoted to the central portion of the main frame and adapted to engage a catch d<1> on the tine frame. The hook is provided with two ledges f<2>, f<3> so that the tine frame is locked even though on account of uneven ground or an obstruction the tines do not fall to their full extent. A spring f<4> holds the hook in locking position. The pawls are lifted by arms g<6> or bell-crank levers g the inner ends of which are formed by arms g<1> adapted to be actuated by a spring-returned treadle h. A spring g<2> pulls the cranked arms on either side of their centre parts g. Cams k on the hubs lift the pawls from engagement with the ratchets after the rake has been emptied. A push rod m is actuated by an arm on one of the bell-crank levers to force the hook backwards to unlock the tine frame when the bell-crank levers are operated. The hook may be on the tine frame and the catch on the main frame.
