Abstract

284,043. McKenzie, G. Nov. 6, 1926. Wheel-building apparatus.-A jig, for use in building and trueing up wire wheels, of the kind described in Specification 258,336 consisting of a two-part clamp to support the hub and rim, has a centring device provided which supports the hub and allows for differences in diameter of the part supported. The centring device consists of a screwed holder 5 secured to each side of the centre of the jig and containing a spring-influenced sleeve 6 with a conical aperture 7 for engagement with the end of the hub spindle or hub. The outside surface of the sleeve is provided with an oil groove. Instead of a sleeve, a tapered plug to engage the inside of the hub may be used.
