Ventilators.-A louvre shutter is formed of units each formed from a metal &c. sheet provided with flat portions along the upper and side edges 22, 23 and having a single louvre 20 bent out of the sheet without fracturing or cutting the material connecting the louvre portion to the flat portions. Adjacent units are connected by means provided on either the upper or lower edges or both such edges, and such means may consist of small depressions 27 on the upper edge of a unit and small tongues 28 at the lower edge. The tongues and depressions are cranked or depressed in opposite directions, and the tongues may be formed by slitting the material. If desired, tongues 28 only may be provided on one of the edges of the units, the depressions being dispensed with. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, a portion 32 may be left flat along the lower edge of each unit and divided by a cut from the raised edge of the louvre portion prior to, or during, the process of forming the louvre portion. The flat portion 32 may be bent slightly so as to overlap the upper edge of the adjacent lower unit. After being engaged with each other, the parts, such as the tongues and depressions, may be mechanically deformed, for example by forming indentations and projections with a centre punch, in order to increase the rigidity of the structure. The units may be mounted in a frame to which they may be secured by screws passing through the flat side portions 23, or they may engage grooves in such frame.
