Sprinklers, automatic.- A pipe 1 conveying water or other fire-extinguishing fluid under pressure is sealed at a. joint by an easily fusible disc 2, for example of celluloid, having a grooved cylindrical portion 3. Around this portion in the groove is wrapped a heating wire 5 in a normally open circuit 6 which includes an alarm device 10 and a contact thermometer 7. On an outbreak of fire, the expansion of mercury closes the circuit 6, causing the wire 5 to fuse the part 3 and release the sealing disc 2.
