Abstract
282,326. Naamlooze Vennootschap Nederlandsche Kunstzijdefabriek. Dec. 17, 1926, [Convention date]. Apparatus for making filaments. - In the dry spinning of artificial silk &c. the solution is extruded downwardly into a slowly ascending medium the temperature of which gradually increases in an upward direction, and the evaporative medium is removed from the upper part of the enclosing casing, the conditions being arranged to be such that the evaporative medium ascends without substantial turbulence. Conveniently there is used as the spinning chamber a tube 1 open at the lower end and provided with a heating jacket 8, the heating fluid being supplied to the upper part of the jacket and being exhausted at the lower; the rate of flow of the evaporative medium is controlled by means of an outlet at the upper part of the chamber; as shown the latter is provided with an outlet pipe 11 leading to the solvent-receiving apparatus and fitted with a suction-device 12. The threads 5 may be collected on a winding device 6, or they may be led away over a guide 7. When spinning an acetone solution of cellulose acetate, it is convenient to employ a temperature of 50 C. at the upper part of the chamber, and a temperature of 20 C. at the lower part. Specifications 203,092, 218,913 and 269,377 are referred to.
