Air douches. - An air douche for dental purposes comprises a piston pump preferably double - acting, the piston e of which is driven through a crank and connecting-rod c', c from a worm and wormwheel mechanism a<1>, b the worm a<1> being driven through a coupling member a housed in a sleeve A' from the flexible shaft of a dental engine. The appliance is enclosed in a casing A having partitions q, t. Air is supplied to the compression spaces through automatic valves g, and is delivered to a chamber h and thence to a detachable nozzle m, through automatic valves d in the piston e and a central tubular extension s thereof. The air delivered may be heated by an electric heater k supported on a ring i and supplied with electric current by leads o enclosed in an insulating tube n. A rheostat may be provided in the electrical circuit.
