Abstract

281,520. Bailey, A. H. March 16, 1927. Lift valves; leakage, preventing. - In screw down stop valves or cocks of the type backed by a rotary collar, the casing C, Figs. 2 and 4, is provided with a through-way bore K and a conical valve A screwing directly into the casing body and seating in and across the said bore. The squared upper end D of the valve member is engaged by the rotary spindle F and the conical packing collar G thereon is pressed upwards into contact with the screw cap H by an internallydisposed spring I. As shown in, Fig. 2 the valve arrangement may be duplicated, and a second passage R<1>, R<2> provided to enable a reserve supply to be connected to the same outlet K from another source communicating with the passage R. The conical packing surfaces, mav be grooved and packed with a lubricating substance such as graphite.
