Sheets, travelling.-In an advertising device the advertisements are mounted on rods 23 which are assembled in magazines 15 and are withdrawn therefrom by an endless chain 5 furnished with hooks 24 the magazines being provided with fixed and movable teeth for displacing the rods 23 remaining in a magazine each time a rod is withdrawn. A motor 3, Fig. 1, drives a wheel 41, on the spindle of which is mounted a wheel 4 for driving the endless chain 5 and a wheel 6 for driving an endless chain 7. The chain 7 drives wheels 8, 9, and through them upper and lower wheels 13, 11 for operating a movable rack-plate 16. This plate is carried by a horizontal bar having a depending portion 42, Fig. 2, in contact with an eccentric 18 mounted on the same shaft as the wheel 13 and a wheel 44. This latter wheel is provided with a finger 19 which actuates a lever 20 pivoted to a fixed plate 14 perforated at 22 to enable a pin 21 on the movable plate 16 to engage a slot in the end of the lever 20. Rotation of the wheel 13 causes the eccentric 18 to raise the plate 16 to engage the rods 23 after which the finger 19 strikes a lever 20 to move the plate 16 laterally a distance of one tooth; subsequent movement of the eccentric lowers the plate 16 and deposits the rods 23 in the magazine 15. An upper and lower magazine are provided on each side of the case 1, the upper magazines having one tooth less than the lower; similar driving mechanism is provided at each side of the case. Referring to the operation of the mechanism on one side only, as the hook 24 passes round with the endless chain 5 it removes a rod 23 from the lower magazine and deposits it onto a support 25 after passing over a wheel 26; the. advertisement may then be viewed through a window 2. A wheel 28 is provided with a. depending pivoted bar 29 and hook 30 which latter, in a revolution, of the wheel 28, removes the rod 23 from the support 25 and deposits it onto an extended tooth 31 on the magazine 15. The hook 24 is then carried round to the other side of the magazine where it strikes a projection 35 of a pivoted lever which ejects a, rod 23 from the magazine 15 onto the hook 24. The rod 23 is then carried down and deposited on the end tooth of the lower magazine 15. The dimensions of the wheels actuating the endless chain 5 and of the wheels actuating the mechanism of the magazines are such that a complete revolution of the chain 5 and the hook 24 which it carries, corresponds to a. complete movement of the mechanism of the magazines. The apparatus may be illuminated and may display fabrics, lace, etc. and flexible articles in general.
