Capsules and like closures.-A closure for bottles, jars, &c. comprises thin, impervious, flexible material, such as that sold under the Registered Trade Mark " Cellophane," in combination with stronger material such as paper or cardboard, the thin material being adhesively secured to the inner Surface of the stronger material to cover all of that material which might otherwise contact with the contents of the bottle &c., and to extend between the stronger material and the wall of the bottle &c. The thin material prevents liquid or moisture from penetrating to the stronger material. As shown in Fig. 2, thin material 4 stuck to the underside of a cardboard annulus 3 extends upwards along the walls of the container 2 and provides means whereby the closure may be removed from the container, but the annulus may rest on the top of a bottle &c. and be secured by an outer paper ring. The thin material 4, Fig. 7, extends downwards over the outer surface of the container and the stronger material 10 springs into a recess in the container mouth. The thin material may be secured to a disc adapted to fit into a groove in the container mouth, the disc being associated with an upper member moulded to the shape of the mouth and secured to the thin material.
