Abstract

Trouser presses. - A hand-operated press for garments, &c. comprises a top board to which is pivoted a double bell-crank lever, and a bottom beard carrying pivoted arms having means with which the short free arms of the lever can be ergaged. As shown, Figs. 1 and 3, the lever c is pivoted in bearings d on the top board b, and the arms e are mounted on a spindle k supported in bearings f attached to the bottom board a. A series of circular notches or depressions e<2> at increasing distances from the spindles k are provided in the bent parts e<1> of the arms e for engagement by the ends of the short arms c' of the lever c. Stops or pins g on the board b engage in slots in plates h secured to the board a. In a modification, Fig. 6, the arms comprise bent screwed rods b with nuts a for engagement by the arms c<1> of the lever c. In another arrangement, instead of screwed rods, the rods are formed with ratchet teeth and the nuts are replaced by spring pawls.
